Middle Channel
Below McCoy Chute the Middle Channel cuts its way through a large group of islands through the remotest part of the Rocher-Fendu, the name for this part of the world. The islands create not only a visual paradise but a variety of options for every water level. The entrance rapids to the Middle Channel can be Lost Channel, Iron Ring or Little Trickle depending on water levels. The Middle Channel is famous for its tight, technical rapids. That’s river talk for zigging and zagging. You’ll be thrilled with such classics as Butterfly, Angel’s Kiss, Garvin’s Chute, Lower Garvin, Rollercoaster, Rock and Roll and smooth as silk, Black Velvet. It is very similar in nature to Algonquin Park. Body Surfing is a fun part of both channels and Butterfly is Middle Channel highlight. Lunch is served at Garvin Chute. I am sure you will agree that it is probably the most spectacular lunch site you will ever see. Talk about a table with a view! The Middle Channel ends with Hell’s Half Mile where it joins the Main.
